2012-13: Limited by injury throughout the majority of the fall season, Northwestern's top breaststroker from 2011-12 swam in just two events prior to winter break ... Still, finished the year as NU's top swimmer in the 100 breast while ranking second in the 200 breast ... Also swam the breast leg on both of NU's top medley relays of the year, including an NCAA `B' provisional qualifying performance of 1:26.57 with the 200 medley squad at the Big Ten Championships that ranks as the fourth-fastest NU relay in that event in program history ... CSCAA Scholar All-America honorable mention ... Academic All-Big Ten ... Competed in both breast events at the conference meet, swimming a season-best `B' cut of 54.83 in the prelims of the 100 to qualify for the bonus final, where he placed 24th overall in 55.83 ... Finished 32nd in the 200 breast with a season-best 2:02.55 ... Captured second in the 100 breast against Wisconsin (11/8) in his first swim of the year, turning in a 57.98 to rank second on NU's top times list for the year ... He then competed in only the 50 breast at the Wildcats' own four-team TYR Invitational (11/16-11/18), an event he won ... Also swam with both of NU's top medley relays for the season ... Won the 100 breast against Milwaukee (1/16) and at the four-team NU Invite (2/2), swimming an NCAA `B' cut of 55.13 at the latter meet ... 2011-12: Freshman quickly has become Northwestern's top breaststroker ... Ranked first on NU's top times list for the season in both breaststroke distances and fifth in the 100 fly ... Scored points in both breaststroke distances at the Big Ten Championships, finishing 10th in the 100 and 13th in the 200 ... Swam a season- best and NCAA `B' provisional qualifying time of 54.03 in the Big Ten 100 breast prelims, a time which ranks him second on NU's all-time top times list in the event ... Turned in a `B' effort of 54.32 in the consolation final of the race ... Also had a `B' cut of 1:59.77 I in the 200 breast prelims before a 2:00.06 in the finals ... Swam NCAA `B' times with both medley relays at the Big Ten Championships, earning the No. 4 spot on NU's all-time top times list in the 200 medley relay and the No. 5 spot with the 400 ... Previously earned NCAA `B' provisional qualifying cuts in the 100 breast, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay at NU's own five-team TYR Invitational ... Was undefeated on the year in the 100 breast with one exception, earning six dual-meet victories, one second place in a dual against Denver and No. 25 Missouri (1/28) and first place at the TYR Invitational (11/19) ... Had 14 total top-three dual-meet finishes with nine victories ... In addition to his win in the 100 breast at the TYR, also won the 50 breast, finished third in the 200 breast and earned second swims in the 100 fly (14th) and 50 free (22nd).
High School: Holds a Finnish national record in the 200 medley relay ... Swam three years of club with Helsingfors Simsällskap ... Attended Atascadero High School in Atascadero, Calif., (20 miles north of San Luis Obispo) as an exchange student during the 2008-09 school year ... Named the Greyhound swim team's MVP and most improved player on the water polo squad ... Also competed on the prep level in Finland for four years under coach Jani Puhakka.
