Wildcats get three performances that rank among the top-3 all-time at NU in their respective events
2014-15: Breakout freshman member of Northwestern’s sprint freestyle group who also has shown promise in the sprint butterfly and breast … Ranked first for NU in the 50 free and 100 free while rating fourth in the 100 breast and fifth in the 100 fly … Led off or anchored the Wildcats’ top 200 free, 400 free, 200 medley and 400 medley relays at the Big Ten Championships … The 200 medley relay was the third-fastest while the 400 medley and 200 free relays were the fifth-fastest in school history … Scored points in both the 50 and 100 freestyle races at the Big Ten Championships … Qualified for the consolation final of the 50 free with a career-best and NCAA ‘B’ cut of 19.87 that made him the fifth-fastest 50 freestyler in school history … Finished 12th in the conference in the 50 free … Turned in a career-best ‘B’ time of 43.99 during the prelims of the 100 free before ending up 15th overall following the consolation final … Also swam the 100 fly at the B1G meet, placing 28th … Notched the first NCAA ‘B’ provisional qualifying cut of his college career with a20.10 time in the 50 free at the AT&T U.S. Winter Nationals (12/3-12/6) to lead off NU’s 200 free relay … Competed in the 50 free, 100 free, 100 breast and 100 fly at Winter Nationals, placing 41st in the 50 free for his best finish … Won both the 50 and 100 freestyle races at NU’s home TYR Invitational (11/21-11/23) … Also was second in the 50 fly, third in the 50 breast, fourth in the 100 fly and ninth in the 100 breast at the TYR … Finished first or second in the 50 free in every collegiate meet with just one exception … In total, recorded 15 top-three dual meet race finishes including eight victories -- five in the 50 free and two in the 100 free … Swept those two races in a double-dual versus UIC and Oakland (10/25), on Senior Night against Milwaukee (1/16) and at Iowa (1/24) … Also won the 50 free against a formidable field in a double dual at Minnesota and against Purdue (1/30).
