EVANSTON, Ill.-- In what has grown into one of the program’s enduring traditions, Northwestern men’s soccer will kick off the 2014 campaign on Wednesday, Aug. 13 (Tuesday night/Wednesday morning) with the Fourth Annual Midnight Madness at Lakeside Field. To take advantage of getting in gear at the first moment allowed by NCAA rules, head coach Tim Lenahan’s side will whistle the start of its first practice at 12:01 a.m. CT.

Admission for the event and parking around Lakeside Field is complimentary. A partial schedule of activities is below:

    12:01-12:30 a.m. - Team warm-up & activities (including team penalty kick contest)

12:30-12:45 a.m. - PK contest with prizes for Northwestern fans

12:45-1:00 a.m. - Poster signing session with the 2014 Wildcats

Aiming to reclaim the Big Ten title they captured in 2011 and 2012, the Wildcats return a plethora of experience. The roster includes junior forward Joey Calistri; senior defender Nikko Boxall and senior goalkeeper Tyler Miller, all of whom have a pair of All-Big Ten honors to their credit. The returning core will be augmented by the nation’s #10 recruiting class, offering Coach Lenahan impressive depth.

Head Coach Tim Lenahan's Wildcats open exhibition play on Saturday, Aug. 16, in Pomona, N.J., against the South Jersey All-Stars before taking on Fairleigh-Dickinson (Aug. 19) and St. John's (Aug. 22) in preseason action later that week in New Jersey. Chicago's Big Ten Team kicks off the 2014 regular-season at Lakeside Field on Friday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. when they host Quinnipiac in the Sheraton Chicago-Northbrook Lakeside Classic.
