EVANSTON, Ill. - Approximately 130 boys soccer campers took a break from drills as they jammed the Nicolet Auditorium at Northwestern University Wednesday morning to watch the United States' dramatic 1-0 World Cup victory over Algeria.

"There's no better way to show the highest level of soccer," Northwestern head men's soccer coach Tim Lenahan said. "You do all the training and practicing at camp, but the best thing is to have a model for what's at the high end. For what's maybe the biggest game in U.S. history, we decided to bring the camp in to watch the game as a group and cheer the U.S. on."

A steady rainfall throughout the morning worked out perfectly as the energetic youngsters would have been forced indoors anyway. The packed room stood for the national anthem before cheering on the U.S. while decked out in red, white and blue.

The attentive and energetic group kept its eyes glued on the big screen, often breaking out in an encouraging "USA!" chant.

Needing a victory to move on to the Knockout Stage, the United States got a dramatic goal from Landon Donovan in extra time to earn the heart-stopping victory and advance on in the World Cup.

Hosea Sanders of ABC 7 was there to capture the excitement, as was Scott Powers of ESPNChicago.com. Be sure to check both stories for more on the day's festivities.
