EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern Boys Soccer Academy is back this summer, and will welcome campers from around the country to spend a week with the back-to-back Big Ten Regular Season Champions. Run by 2011 Big Ten Coach of the Year Tim Lenahan, the Northwestern men's soccer team will offer six different camps throughout the months of June and July for players of many ages and skill levels.
These camps are a unique opportunity for elementary, middle, and high school players to receive hands-on coaching from elite college coaches and players. The NU coaching staff will again partner with Coerver Coaching, a global giant dedicated to the development of young soccer players' skills. The camps are designed for young male athletes, both field players and goalkeepers, to train in a positive learning environment. The camps utilize individual, small group and team settings to help improve individual skill level, passion for the game and teamwork.
The College Soccer Training Center (CSTC) is one of the more intensive options, running from July 18-21. Campers will experience a more college-like environment and will have the opportunity to meet and work with NCAA coaches from programs around the country.
"We employ coaches from various levels of Division I, II and III, so players get the opportunity to be seen by college recruiters," Northwestern head coach Tim Lenahan said. "While most of the players who have played at Northwestern have attended the camp, like All-Americans Dave Roth and Mark Blades, we are able to get a number of players exposure to other programs and coaches through our camp and our evaluation process. Each college coach leaves camp with a list of potential recruits. While not every player may be able to come to Northwestern, we certainly use the camp as an important part of our recruiting process as does every college coach who attends the camp."
All NU camps are available to any and all entrants, and those entrants can only be limited by age, gender and number of campers. Summer camp dates are as follows. For full descriptions and more information on each camp, visit www.nusoccercamps.com:
