    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana scored the only goal of the match in the 28th minute as the Hoosiers topped the Wildcats 1-0 Saturday night under lights and in front of more than 2,000 fans. Mark Blades (Lakewood, Ohio/St. Ignatius), David Roth (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade College Prep), Carl Pett (pictured) and Brian Usinger (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) all recorded shots on goal for the Wildcats who take on UIC at 7 p.m. Wednesday night in Chicago.

    The loss drops Northwestern to 9-4, 1-3 in the Big Ten, while Indiana improves to 2-0-1 in conference, 8-3-3 overall.

    Indiana got on the board first at the 27:35 mark on a goal by Eric Alexander. His shot from 20 yards curled into the top corner of the net. Kevin Robson assisted on the tally. The Hoosiers took a 1-0 lead and held on for the victory.

    The Wildcats played even with the 14th-ranked Hoosiers for almost the whole 90 minutes. Indiana won the shot battle 11-10. Both teams took four corner kicks, the Wildcats recorded only one less shot on goal and both keepers had four saves.

    Will Briley (7-4) took the loss in net while Indiana's Chay Cain (7-2-2) picked up the victory.
