EL PASO, Texas -- Northwestern senior Jack Perry (Santa Barbara, Calif./Santa Barbara) shot a final round 2-under 69 Tuesday at the Sun Bowl Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic to take 12th place among the elite field of 21 individual entries.

After entering the day in 13th position, Perry teed off at No. 10 and got off to a blazing start with four birdies in his first eight holes to charge well into the top-10. He cooled off after making the turn, carding four bogeys to find himself even par with two to play. He then made birdie at both Nos. 8 and 9 for a strong finish.

Perry's final 54-hole total of 2-under 211 (70-72-69) tied him with Stanford's Cameron Wilson and Georgia Tech's Ollie Schniederjans -- the current Golfstat.com No. 1 ranked golfer -- in 12th position. New Mexico's Gavin Green won the tournament at 11-under 202 after closing with a 5-under 66 on Tuesday.

Perry's All-America honor last season earned him an invitation to this prestigious tournament, where he joined a field that included nine of the current top-30 ranked players in the country according to Golfstat.com.

The tournament is one of the oldest in college golf, beginning in 1974 and being held every year since then with the exception of 1987. College players who earned All-America honors in previous seasons or other special invitees comprise the field that has been described as "the No. 1 tournament in college golf" by the Sagarin/Golfweek Performance Index.

The roster of past participants and champions includes some of the biggest names in professional golf. Tournament alumni have won 617 PGA Tour events and have amassed over $1.6 billion in Tour earnings.
