EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head coach Pat Goss announced today the signing of two future Wildcats to National Letters of Intent. Charles Wang (Beijing, China/Sarasota Christian School) and Dylan Wu (Medford, Ore./St. Mary's School) will matriculate to Evanston in the fall of 2014 and begin competing for NU during the 2014-15 season.

"I am very excited to welcome Dylan and Charles to the Northwestern Golf program next fall," Goss said. "They are both strong players and committed students who work extremely hard and match the values of our program."

Wang is a talented young player who currently is 16-years-old and will be 17 when he comes to Evanston after skipping a grade in high school to attend college in the fall of 2014. The 2015 NCAA Championships are being played at his home course, The Concession in Brandenton, Fla.

In addition to his emerging golf talent, Wang also is an accomplished violinist who has performed with the Venice Symphony.

"My initial introduction to Charles was from world renowned teacher, David Leadbetter," Goss said. "David reached out to me to recommend Charles as a player who was showing great improvement and he believed would continue to improve. I was very impressed in evaluating Charles as he competed this fall as an amateur in professional events, especially his ability to shoot low scores and beat former college All-Americans."

Wu showed early promise as the winner of the 2011 AJGA Emerson Junior Golf Classic when he was just 15. He followed that with another AJGA title in 2013 at the Junior at Centennial, one of nine total top-10 AJGA finishes for Wu in his junior career. He has advanced to match play three times in national junior amateur tournaments.

While Wu plies his golf trade with St. Mary's School, he also competes in ice hockey with North Medford High School. Wu began skating at age 5 and has played hockey his entire life, starting on varsity in every year of high school and earning his team's defenseman of the year award three times.

"Coach Inglis and I were very excited to get an early commitment from Dylan," Goss said. "He had a strong junior career demonstrating his ability at the national level by winning an AJGA event at age 15. Now he has progressed to competing at a national amateur level shown by his play in the PNGA Amateur where he made it to the round of 16 this past summer losing in extra holes to a three-time college All-American. Dylan has a strong desire to continue to improve and will make an immediate impact on our program."
