    DURHAM, N.C. -- Northwestern will leave the Midwest for the first time this season when it travels to Durham, N.C., this weekend to play in the Rod Myers Invitational. The 11-team field will play 36 holes on Saturday, Oct. 13, before playing the final round on Sunday morning, Oct. 14.

    Now in its fourth decade of hosting a men's golf tournament, Duke welcomes a deep top-to-bottom field for the 2012 edition. Ten of the 11 teams in the event this weekend are ranked in the top-100 of the country according to, headlined by the 14th-ranked Wildcats and host No. 15 Duke. Other top-50 teams are No. 27 Liberty, No. 29 Tulsa (alma mater of NU assistant coach David Inglis) and No. 48 North Carolina.

    In its last tournament at the Olympia Fields Country Club/Fighting Illini Invitational, NU finished in sixth place, trailing this week's host, Duke, by just two strokes. Prior to that, the `Cats' strong season included a win at the Inverness Intercollegiate and a runner-up performance at NU's own Windon Memorial Classic.

    The `Cats will be led this weekend by senior Nick Losole (Scottsdale, Ariz./Scottsdale Notre Dame) who will play for the chance to earn his fourth top-10 finish of the season. Losole placed a career-best second at the Fighting Illini Invitational. He is one of three different Wildcats to have top-2 finishes in NU's first three events of the 2012-13, joining Inverness medalist Jack Perry (Santa Barbara, Calif./Santa Barbara) and Windon winner John Callahan (Hinsdale, Ill./Benet Academy).
