EVANSTON, Ill. -- One day after breaking the Northwestern school record for best score in a 54-hole tournament, junior Jack Perry (Santa Barbara, Calif./Santa Barbara) has been recognized as the Big Ten Golfer of the Week.

The honor is the second-straight for Perry, who also was chosen for the award after NU's last tournament, the U.S. Intercollegiate hosted by Stanford in late March.

With 20 total birdies in the tournament, Perry fired a 16-under 200 (67-67-66) to capture Northwestern's own Spring Invitational at The Glen Club in Glenview, Ill., by an eight-stroke margin. His bogey free final round 6-under 66 allowed him to shatter the previous NU program 54-hole tournament scoring record of 202 held jointly by former World No. 1 Luke Donald (2001 U.S. Collegiate) and current Asian Tour and Web.com Tour member David Lipsky (2010 UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate).

Perry opened the event with back-to-back 5-under 67s on Monday despite gusty breezes in the morning and a constant rain in the afternoon. The final-round 66 matched his career-best single round score as a Wildcat.

Perry was one of just five individuals to finish under par in the tournament, leading Northwestern to a 12-stroke team victory as one of just two squads to finish under par in the event. Perry's win is his second of the year and the second of his career; he also won the 2012-13 season-opening Inverness Intercollegiate back in September -- a tournament that NU also won as a team.

A quick glance at tournament results from across Division I this season shows that Perry's 16-under 200 has been bested only twice this season on a par-72 track, both at the SCVB Pacific Invitational in October where scores on the whole were exceptionally low (45 golfers finished under par).

Perry and the Wildcats return to action April 26-28 at the Big Ten Championships in French Lick, Ind.
