EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern senior Jack Perry (Santa Barbara, Calif./Santa Barbara) has been named one of five finalists for the prestigious Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Byron Nelson Award.

The award is presented by Cleveland Golf/Srixon in cooperation with the Four Seasons Resort and Club Las Colinas and the Salesmanship Club of Dallas.

Perry joins Brandon Hagy (California), Joel Stalter (California), Cory Whitsett (Alabama) and Cameron Wilson (Stanford) as finalists for the award. The recipient will be named on May 1. Perry is NU's first finalist for the honor since former PGA Tour member and current Tour member Chris Wilson in 2007.

Candidates for the Nelson Award must be a graduating senior. The selection committee considers equally a nominee's entire collegiate academic and golf career as well as his character and integrity while in college. Particular consideration will be given to a nominee's good citizenship, as portrayed by Mr. Byron Nelson over the course of his life and golf career.

Perry is a 2013 PING All-America Award winner who is having a stellar senior season, leading the Wildcats with a 71.00 stroke average while compiling five top-10 finishes in seven NU team events. He captured co-medalist honors in October at the Rod Myers Invitational for his third-career win.

In the classroom, Perry -- a communication studies major -- was a 2013 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Award winner.

During his collegiate career, Perry has volunteered with the First Tee of Chicago, Wildcat Golf Days and performed in the Northwestern Student-Athlete Talent Show to benefit NU's Dance Marathon charities.
