EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern looks to get back into action after two weeks off as they head out to desert of Arizona for the 39th Annual Thunderbird Invitational April 9-10. The two-day event features 14 teams, four of which are ranked in the top-25.
Hosted by Arizona State, the 54-hole tournament gets underway on Saturday, April 9 and wraps up Sunday, April 10. The contest will be played on the par-71 Karsten Golf Course, which is situated in the heart of Tempe, Ariz., on the campus of Arizona State.
Fourteen teams will be teeing it up at the invitational, giving Northwestern some strong competition. The four teams competing from the top-25 are No. 4 San Diego State, No. 17 California, No. 23 Arizona State and No. 24 Southern California. No. 34 Pepperdine and No. 40 UNLV round out the top-50, while No. 53 Florida State, No. 54 Northwestern, No. 64 Arizona, No. 73 Colorado State, No. 75 San Jose State, No. 83 UC Irvine, No. 84 Washington State and No. 107 CS Northridge make up the rest of the field.

This tournament is the first of two-straight weekends of play for the Wildcats prior to the 2011 Big Ten Championships at the end of April. Following the Thunderbird, NU will travel to Urbana, Ill., for the Illini Spring Classic April 16-17.
