EVANSTON, Ill. -- Three-time defending champion Northwestern travels to Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 8-9, for the fifth playing of the Big Ten Match Play Championship. The Wildcats have an incredible 14-1 overall record in the event, winning each of their last 13 matches over the previous four years.

The Big Ten Match Play, traditionally the conference's spring season opener after its inception in 2009, will have its format slightly tweaked for the 2013 edition. Coaches will submit a roster of six players prior to the event and will choose a five-player lineup for each match from that group. Previously teams competed in six-man matches. Tournament team and individual seeds are set by final fall Golfstat.com rankings.

Northwestern locked up its most recent Big Ten Match Play title as the No. 7 overall seed with a 4-1-1 victory over No. 8 Minnesota in the 2012 title tilt. Previously, NU also won as the No. 4 seed in 2011 and the No. 6 seed in 2010. Following a strong fall campaign, the Wildcats are seeded second for this year's tournament and will face the winner of No. 7 Michigan State and No. 10 Penn State in the quarterfinals Friday afternoon, Feb. 2.

The semifinal and final matches will be played Saturday, Feb. 9. The complete bracket is available by downloading the .pdf at the top of this page. Live scoring will be provided by the America Junior Golf Association (AJGA).

Northwestern prepared for this weekend's event with its annual alumni match on Feb. 2 hosted by Luke Donald at The Bear's Club. The alumni squeaked out a 19-17 victory over the current team one year after securing a dominating 20.5-6.5 victory in 2012.
