Men's Golf Finishes Third At NCAA Central Regional
Seppanen Wins Individual Title
EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern men's golf team finished in third place at the 1998 NCAA Central Regional in San Antonio, Texas. NU fired a 2-under-par 282 on the third and final day and finished the tournament at 2-over par. Houston won the Regional at seven-under par and Oklahoma finished in second at three-under.
Senior Matt Seppanen finished in first place at the tournament after firing a 2-under-par 69. Seppanen had rounds of 68, 68, 69 and finished at eight-under par (205). Freshman Luke Donald finished in fourth place with a four-under 209, while junior Josh Habig finished in a tie for 34th at five-over 218.
Seppanen's 205 is the second lowest 54-hole tournament score in Northwestern history and he becomes the 'Cats first-ever Regional NCAA Champion.
