    Men's Golf Tied for First at NCAA Regionals

    Matt Seppanen leads Cats with a 68.

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern men's golf team is tied for first place after day one action at the 1998 NCAA Central Regional in San Antonio, Texas. NU fired a 2-under-par 282 and is tied with Texas A&M. Houston is one shot back at 283 and Oklahoma is fourth at 284.

    Senior Matt Seppanen was NU's top performer, shooting a 3-under-par 68 to place himself in a four-way tie for second, just one stroke off the pace. Luke Donald is in a six-way tie for sixth with a 2-under 69 and Josh Habig is tied for 12th after a 1-under 70. Erik Ciotti is tied for 68th with a 75 and Jess Daley is tied for 96th after shooting 77.

    The 'Cats are back in action tomorrow for round two. NU, paired with Kansas and Texas A&M, is the first team off the tee at 7:30 a.m. The top 10 teams advance to the NCAA Championships later this month in Albuquerque, N.M.
