LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Playing without senior Dillon Dougherty (Woodland, Calif./Woodland), who spent this week at the Masters in Augusta, Ga., the 23rd-ranked Wildcats are in sixth place after the first two rounds of Purdue's Boilermaker Invitational.

Led by junior David Merkow (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead Union), Northwestern recorded rounds of 306 and 308 for a 38-over 614. Indiana holds a 10-stroke lead over the host Boilermakers. The 'Cats are 26 strokes behind the Hoosiers.

Merkow carded rounds of 75 and 76 for a 7-over 151 and is in 15th place. Right behind Merkow is junior Chris Wilson (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman), who is a shot back with an 8-over 152 (74-78).

    Sophomores Kyle Moore (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) and Dan Doyle (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek) are 27th and 31st, respectively, with a 155 (79-76) and a 156 (78-78).
