Stephen Bailey is in his fifth year with the Wildcats. He spent the first three seasons as an assistant coach before earning the title of associate head coach prior to the 2008-09 campaign.

Bailey took on added responsibility in recruiting and the overall administration of the program with his promotion, and now is the Tournament Director for the Windon Memorial Classic. The new duties are in addition to his main role with the squad, which is recruiting. Northwestern's 2008-09 freshman class of Eric Chun and Sam Chien was ranked in the top-10 in the nation by Golfweek.

Chun went on to win the Big Ten individual championship in 2009, becoming the first freshman to be the Big Ten medalist since Illinois' Steve Stricker in 1986. Chun was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and a GCAA PING All-Region honoree. Also in 2008-09, Northwestern qualified for the NCAA National Championships as a team for the first time since 2005-06 in Bailey's first year in Evanston.

In addition to Chun, Chris Wilson won the individual Big Ten championship in 2006 and David Lipsky was the medalist in 2010, giving the Wildcats individual conference crowns in three of Bailey's five years in Evanston.

Bailey previously served as tournament director for the American Junior Golf Association(AJGA) from 2001-04. As director, Bailey led the planning and administration of 13 AJGA Championships.

From 1999-2001, Bailey managed tournament communications and public relations for the AJGA and its 61 events. A native of Virginia, Bailey graduated from Radford University in 1998 with a degree in communications.

In his first year with the Wildcats, Bailey played a key role in helping Northwestern play host to one of the most successful Big Ten Conference Championships at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Ill. Northwestern captured the Big Ten team title at the event while senior Chris Wilson won the individual crown and classmate David Merkow was named 2006's Big Ten Player of the Year.

Following graduation, Bailey served as assistant sports information director at Radford and a contact for both men's and women's golf teams for one year.

He and his wife, Bethany, reside in Evanston.
