FORT WORTH, Texas -- Northwestern traveled from Dallas to Fort Worth Wednesday to hold its second practice of TicketCity Bowl week in the Metroplex area, moving indoors at Texas Christian University following a forecast for rain in the morning.
While the rain dissipated and the sun came out prior to the workout, Northwestern still had a "Thursday" 12-period practice indoors.
"I'm very appreciative of Gary Patterson and TCU for allowing us to come out here and practice at their facility," head coach Pat Fitzgerald said. "It turned out to be a nice day weather-wise, but that's ok. We had a fantastic practice yesterday in inclement weather and another strong one today inside."
On its 14th practice of the bowl season, Northwestern went with an abbreviated Thursday-style session in helmets and shells instead of a normal full-bore Wednesday practice. The Wildcats will return to Mesquite High School -- where they worked out Tuesday -- tomorrow morning for their final tune-up prior to Saturday morning's kickoff with Texas Tech.
On Tuesday night, the Wildcats attended their first event of Bowl Week, a welcome party at the Dallas House of Blues. After brief remarks from TicketCity Bowl President Tom Starr, the Wildcats feasted on bar-b-que while a DJ in the corner spun tunes. NU also received the first of its bowl gifts, a really sharp-looking TicketCity Bowl wristwatch.

The Wildcats will head to Main Event Entertainment tonight for bowling, laser tag and arcade games as part of their TicketCity Bowl activities.
While the kickers warmed up prior to practice, defensive players Quentin Davie and Jeravin Matthews were right in their ears chattering away to serve as distractions. The specialists were unfazed, striking their field goals true.
At one point, the offensive and defensive linemen went outside for a period to take advantage of the cool breeze and 60 degree temperatures post-rainstorm here in Dallas/Fort Worth.
Local television stations and the Dallas Morning News (along with Chicago Tribune beat writer Teddy Greenstein) were present at NU's workout today, getting the scoop on the visiting Big Ten opponent for Saturday's TicketCity Bowl.
Wednesday marked Northwestern's final open practice session of the year for media. Thursday's workout is closed.
