EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern University assistant football coaches Howard Feggins and Jay Peterson will leave their posts with the Wildcats to become the respective offensive and defensive coordinators at Eastern Michigan University. On Monday, former NU assistant Jeff Genyk was tabbed the Eagles' new head coach.

Feggins and Peterson have been long-time assistant coaches for Randy Walker. Peterson, a 1985 graduate of Miami (Ohio) University, began his coaching tenure as a graduate assistant under Walker in 1990. He then became a full-time assistant in 1991 and has been a part of Walker's staff the past 13 years, coaching linebackers and the defensive line.

Feggins, a 1987 graduate of North Carolina, joined Walker at Miami in 1997 and has served as his wide receivers coach each year.

"These are great advancement opportunities for Howard and Jay, and it speaks highly of our program," said Walker. "Three of our assistants have become a head coach or a coordinator at another Division I-A institution. They will do a great job for Eastern Michigan. We wish them the best."
