EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern junior quarterback Dan Persa (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) has been named the Walter Camp Football Foundation Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Wildcats' 21-17 win over No. 13 Iowa Saturday.
Persa threw for a career-high 318 yards and two touchdowns on 32-of-43 passing while running for 50 yards and a third score. Persa led fourth-quarter touchdown drives of 85- and 91-yards to complete a comeback from a 17-7 deficit, connecting on a six-yard TD pass to Jeremy Ebert and a game-winning 20-yard touchdown toss to Demetrius Fields with 1:22 remaining in the game.
This is the seventh year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation is honoring one offensive and one defensive player as its national FBS player of the week during the regular season. Recipients are selected by a panel of national media members and administered by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
