EVANSTON, Ill. -- Fresh off his three-touchdown performance in a 28-25 upset of No. 9 Nebraska, Northwestern sophomore Kain Colter (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Colter accumulated 57 yards both rushing and receiving while also throwing for 115 yards, 81 of which came on a fourth-quarter scoring strike to Jeremy Ebert that tied for the second-longest pass play in Northwestern history.
Colter also scored on a 3-yard running play -- which ended with an acrobatic dive at the pylon -- and a 1-yard plunge into the end zone late in the fourth quarter that ultimately was the game-winner for the Wildcats. He now has accounted for nine touchdowns in six Big Ten games -- four rushing, four passing and one receiving.
This marks the second straight week the Wildcats have earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors following Drake Dunsmore's selection for the honor last Monday.
