    Football Receives National Rankings

    EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern University football team received its first national ranking since Sept. 1, 1997, on Sunday evening. The Wildcats cracked the Top 25 in both the Associated Press media poll and the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll, taking 22nd in the AP and 24th in the coaches poll.

    Northwestern received the ranking after going on the road and winning a pair of Big Ten games against ranked teams. On September 23, the Wildcats defeated then-No. 7 Wisconsin, 47-44, in double overtime in Madison. This past Saturday, NU went to East Lansing and defeated then-No. 18 Michigan State, 37-17.

    Northwestern is at home this weekend against Indiana. Kickoff between the Wildcats and the Hoosiers is set for noon Central at Ryan Field.
