EVANSTON, Ill. -- More than 1,000 fans attended Northwestern football's annual Meet the Team event Friday night, presented by Athletico. Fans of all ages took advantage of an evening of great Chicago weather to hear from Director of Athletics and Recreation Jim Phillips and head football coach Pat Fitzgerald and to interact with members of the Northwestern football team.

As fans piled onto Randy Walker Terrace for the event, they were treated to discounted concessions courtesy of Vienna Beef as well as complimentary beverages provided by Goose Island. After getting some insight on the upcoming season from Coach Fitz, the 2010 team captains were introduced to the public for the first time. During the final hour of the event, fans were able to play catch, kick field goals, test their speed and get autographs at stations scattered around Ryan Field.

The next time fans will have the chance to see the 'Cats at Ryan Field will be when Northwestern opens the home portion of its 2010 schedule at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 when the 'Cats welcome Illinois State to Ryan Field.
