EVANSTON, Ill. -- CatBackers, the women's support group for Northwestern Athletics, released its fall schedule of luncheons and speakers today, announced by Liz Kerr, the group's president. Two luncheons will be held in the Ryan Field Stadium Club and two more nighttime events will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn.
The first luncheon is set for 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 8 in the Stadium Club. The keynote speakers are Northwestern head football coach Pat Fitzgerald and his wife, Stacy.
Other CatBackers Luncheons and speakers are as follows:
6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6 at the Hilton Garden Inn (1818 Maple Ave.) Keynote speakers include Dr. Jim Phillips, NU's director of athletics, and Eric Howitt, head equipment manager.
11:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 20 in the Stadium Club Keynote speakers include Dave Eanet, WGN Radio sports director and Dennis Springer, Northwestern's wide receivers coach.
6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17 at the Hilton Garden Inn Keynote speakers include Ted Albrecht, former Chicago Bear and WGN Radio color analyst, and Mike Hankwitz, NU defensive coordinator.
In addition to the speakers, a selected number of student-athletes also will be introduced at each meeting--NU fans will get to know each player up close, including their field of study and how they came to choose Northwestern.
Membership in the CatBackers organization is open to all. Annual dues are a modest $25 and each luncheon is an additional $25. For more information on the group, contact Tammy Walker at email@example.com or call 847-467-4799.
The club was founded in 1998 and while its main area of support is devoted to football, in recent years the club has also work with both the men's and women's basketball teams. According to club president, Liz Kerr, the club plans to reach out to other teams in the future.
