EVANSTON, Ill. -- Wildcat fans are hitting the road to support NU's football team before the season even starts with the Second Annual Camp Kenosha Tailgate and Scrimmage. The Northwestern Athletic Department, along with the NU Clubs of Chicago and Milwaukee, are sponsoring a tailgate before the Wildcats' scrimmage in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Saturday, Aug. 22.
This event is free for all Wildcat football season ticket holders and Three-Pack Holders. These fans can also ride the charter bus from Ryan Field at no cost if they are one of the first 50 to register by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
"The Kenosha road trip to see the 'Cats last year was a great. It was like a practice for us to get ready for the tailgates we have before every home game," said loyal season ticket holder Steve Dick. "We are looking forward to seeing the team before the season starts this year and every year after."
This year's scrimmage is scheduled for 3 p.m. at George N. Tremper High School in Kenosha, Wis. The tailgate, which begins at 1 p.m., include snacks, games and a visit by head coach Pat Fitzgerald. All non-season ticket holders and 3-pack holders wishing to attend the tailgate can RSVP by clicking here. The cost for all other NU fans is $8. If you plan to grab a group of your friends and family to create your own tailgate near the Wildcat fans, there is space available at no charge.
The Wildcats open the 2009 season against Towson University on at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Ryan Field. Season tickets, Three-Pack plans and single game tickets are still available for purchase. To get your tickets for the 2009 Northwestern football season, call 847-491-CATS (2287) or order online now. Fans can also purchase tickets by stopping into the Athletic Ticket Office at the south end of Ryan Field between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and new extended hours until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Be sure to find a way to make it to Ryan Field this fall by taking advantage of the special ticket discounts as well as by encouraging young Wildcat fans to get involved in the many ways they can earn free tickets, including the Bound for Success Reading Program, Wildcats 3.0 and Purrfect Attendance.
