EVANSTON, Ill. -- After growing up as peers in Chicago and reaching the pinnacles of their respective sports as collegiate student-athletes, Pat Fitzgerald and Chris Collins had a lot in common even before becoming head coaches at Northwestern University. On Friday, Northwestern launched a new online mini-series, "Coaches in Cars," in which Coach Fitz and Coach Collins chat about their shared experiences and allow fans of Chicago's Big Ten Team to come along for the ride.

Created in the spirit of Jerry Seinfeld's popular web series "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee," the piece features Coach Fitz and Coach Collins driving the streets of the Windy City and discussing everything from their playing careers and coaching philosophies to fatherhood to music and much more. Friday's debut episode, in which the coaches reminisce about their days growing up as young sports fans in Chicago, is the first installment of a recurring series that can be seen on and its affiliated social media channels throughout the month of August.
