EVANSTON, Ill. -- After waiting three-plus months to find out if they would earn a chance to play in the NFL, Northwestern's Quentin Davie (St. Louis, Mo./Cardinal Ritter Prep) and Corbin Bryant (Chicago, Ill./Morgan Park) can rest easier as both players have agreed to sign free agent contracts with a pair of rival NFC North clubs.

Davie, who started 39 career games at outside linebacker and totaled 240 career tackles and 28 tackles-for-loss, is joining the Detroit Lions, while Bryant, a starter in 35 career games and an honorable mention All-Big Ten performer in 2010, remains at home and will get his NFL shot with the Chicago Bears. Bryant will be reunited with former NU star and current Bears' defensive end Corey Wootton.

Both Davie and Bryant played in the 2011 NFL Players Association All-Star game on Feb. 5 in San Antonio.
