EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern is holding its fourth-annual Walk for Randy 5K Family Walk at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 30 to honor the memory of former NU football coach Randy Walker, who passed away June 29, 2006.

Bring your family and join Head Coach Pat Fitzgerald, Tammy Walker and their families for a fun 5K Family Walk in Evanston. The cost to participate is $25 and includes a T-shirt and a ticket to the Northwestern vs. Rice football game on November 12.

"Once again, we're excited about this year's Walk for Randy," Fitzgerald said. "This is a great way to celebrate Coach Walk's legacy and remember the Walker family, who continue to be a big part of the Northwestern football program."

To register, fill out the form found at the link above with a credit card number or include a check made payable to Northwestern University to the following address:

Northwestern Athletic Ticket Office, ATTN: Walk for Randy
    1501 Central St.
    Evanston, IL 60208

To register over the phone, call the Northwestern Ticket Office at 888-GO-PURPLE (467-8775). Registration will be accepted on the day of the Walk, but in order to ensure you receive your preferred T-shirt size, please register by Monday, July 18.

Registration and T-shirt pick-up will begin at 8:30 a.m. on July 30 at the corner of Walker Way (next to the NU Nicolet Football Center and Ryan Field) and Ashland Avenue. Tammy Walker will address the crowd at approximately 9:15 a.m. and will serve as the Grand Marshal.

"The Walk for Randy is such a wonderful and appropriate tribute to my beloved late husband, Coach Randy Walker. This event combines two of his loves -- Northwestern Football and walking for exercise. He, along with his dog Magic, could often be spotted along Sheridan Road, the lakefront and around the stadium in Evanston and Wilmette," Tammy Walker said.

Strollers and dogs are welcome on this 5K Family Walk. For more information, wildcatmarketing@northwestern.edu
