6:35 a.m. CT -- CHRIS FITZPATRICK -- Chris is our only special teams player in this class, a long snapper from Lawrenceburg, Ky. How many times during his career will he be called Chris Fitzgerald?? Congrats Chris! :)

In the past 45 minutes, nearly half of the Wildcats' 2012 recruiting class is signed and sealed. Once again, a big shout out to our Signing Day blog sponsors, Mazda and Galaxie Home Remodeling. Galaxie also is a sponsor of "Wildcat Insider," our weekly radio show on WGN which usually airs on Friday evenings. This week's guest is Pat Fitzgerald, so make sure to listen and find out about the Wildcats' 2012 recruiting class. Check out the embedded video for behind-the-scenes footage from the football office in the 6 a.m. hour -- thanks to Rob Coons, one of my many terrific staff members helping us today. Also a big thanks to our social media king Doug Meffley and assistant football contact Scott Hammer and athletic communications intern Michael Black! 7:06 a.m. CT -- JOSEPH JONES -- Our first Illinois signee is in -- safety Joseph Jones from Plano! Welcome Joseph.
7:08 a.m. CT -- IFEADI ODENIGBO -- Wildcat fans, here's the most important thing you need to know about our latest signee -- how to pronounce his name: it's if-AH-dee o-DEN-uh-bo -- Welcome Ifeadi! Ifeadi is projected as an outside linebacker for the 'Cats and is a highly touted player from Ohio prep power Centerville, a suburb of Dayton. Here's a cool YouTube video on Ifeadi and his success in the classroom. 7:12 a.m. CT -- IAN PARK -- Ian is our second player from Pittsburgh's Upper St. Clair H.S. to commit today to the 'Cats! Welcome Ian! That makes it three straight years the Wildcats have signed a pair of players from the same high school. Trevor Siemian and Rashad Lawrence from Olympia H.S. in 2010, and Geoff Mogus and Deonte Gibson from St. Edward H.S. in 2011. 7:14 a.m. CT -- MALIN JONES -- Congrats Malin! Malin was the first oral commit in this year's signing class. He committed to the Wildcats on Oct. 24, 2010 -- not 2011 -- and he is believed to be the earliest player to commit to the Wildcat football program. With the signings of Joseph Jones and Malin Jones, the Wildcats are expected to have SIX players with the last name Jones on their 2012 roster.
7:18 a.m. CT -- DAN VITALE -- Dan is our second superback in this class to commit. Welcome Dan! Dan hails from the Chicago suburb of Wheaton and played at Wheaton-Warrenville South.
Don't forget to email Doug Meffley at d-meffley@northwestern.edu if you have a question for Coach Fitzgerald. The best questions will be used in today's 11:30 a.m. CT news conference, which you can watch on NUsports.com. Our second behind-the-scenes video courtesy of Rob Coons is up and embedded here! Coach Fitz takes a minute to give a brief overview of his signing class, including one recruit he's known longer than his own son, Brendan. 7:27 a.m. CT -- DWIGHT WHITE -- Welcome Dwight, our first Lone Star state signee! Dwight is from the Houston area and hails from Cy-Fair H.S., which produced another recent Wildcat player, running back Omar Conteh.
Quick Signing Day fact: With an expected 21 commits, this will be Coach Fitz's largest signing day class. The Wildcats signed 20 players in 2008. 8:03 a.m. CT -- MIKE McHUGH -- Mike was a star receiver for the Kirkwood Pioneers in suburban St. Louis. Welcome Mike! Mike is the first Kirkwood player to join the Wildcats since the esteemed Darren Drexler played for the 'Cats in the mid-90s.
By the way, the weather in Chicago is just a bit different than it was one year ago today. Last year, we battled "Snowmageddon" and the blizzard of all blizzards. This year, no snow and extremely mild temperatures. Yesterday, it was nearly 60 degrees in Chicago. 8:17 a.m. CT -- DEAN LOWRY -- Dean is our fourth Land of Lincoln product to sign with the 'Cats, hailing from Boylan High in Rockford. Congrats Dean!
8:23 a.m. CT -- TRAVEON HENRY -- Enduring some fax machine challenges, Traveon's NLI has arrived. Congrats Traveon! By the way, he pronounces his first name TRAW-vee-on. Traveon is our final Eastern time zone prospect to sign.
8:39 a.m. CT -- STEPHEN BUCKLEY -- Signee No. 20 is in -- running back Stephen Buckley -- welcome! Stephen, who starred as a dual-threat QB at North Forney High in Texas is expected to start his NU career at running back.
The Wildcats are expecting one more signee, and we expect the NLI to arrive after 9 a.m. CT. While we wait for our final signee, NUsports.com wants to thank Aaron Hosmon, NU's director of compliance, for his assistance today. A reminder to NU fans that Coach Fitz will hold his news conference at 11:30 a.m. CT before heading downtown to Ditka's for the NGN Signing Day reception. And at 3:30 p.m., the Big Ten Network will air its 90-minute Signing Day show. 10:02 a.m. CT -- TERRANCE BROWN -- And the 2012 class is complete! Welcome Terrance, our lone West Coast signee. Terrance hails from Los Alamitos, Calif., and is one of three projected safeties in this year's class.
Thanks again to our sponsors, Mazda and Galaxie Home Remodeling, as well as my terrific athletic communications staff for all of their assistance today. Time to get ready for our news conference. All the signees' bios, etc., will be posted on NUsports.com shortly. Go Cats!
