EVANSTON, Ill. -- Jason Wright, Northwestern's two-time first-team Academic All-American, has spent the week in Hawaii preparing for Saturday's 2004 Hula Bowl Maui All-Star game (7 p.m. CT, ESPN).

This is the third straight year that Northwestern has sent at least one student-athlete to the Hula Bowl Maui.

Wright, who was named co-MVP of the Motor City Bowl with a bowl-record 237-yard rushing performance, closed his career with back-to-back 200-yard rushing efforts. Earlier this month, he was named the FCA's inaugural Bobby Bowden Athlete of the Year award winner.

He finished the year second in the Big Ten and 21st nationally in rushing average (106.7 ypg), and first in the Big Ten and sixth nationally in scoring (9.7 ppg).
