    Wildcats Upset by Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Brian Kuklick completed 23-of-33 passes with a pair of touchdowns and Desmond Clark had nine receptions for 127 yards and a score as Wake Forest held on for a 27-20 upset of 24th-ranked Northwestern.

Wake Forest (1-0) defeated the Wildcats for the second straight season, its only victories over ranked opponents since 1979. Last year, the Demon Deacons came from behind with 15 fourth-quarter points for a 28-27 upset over then number 13 Northwestern.

Kuklick's 12-yard touchdown pass to Jamie Deese 4:33 into the second half put Wake Forest ahead for good, 13-10. After Northwestern went out on downs, Kuklick connected with Clark on a 37-yard scoring strike for a 20-10 advantage.

Morgan Kane capped a 14-play, 69-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run 1:55 into the fourth quarter, extending Wake Forest's lead to 27-13.

Tim Hughes was 14-of-31 for 201 yards and two touchdowns for Northwestern (1-1). Brian Musso caught five passes for 64 yards and two scores.
