    Troy Sutton joined Northwestern's sports performance staff in 2012 following a lengthy and successful tenure at his alma mater, Ohio State University. Sutton works primarily with the NU football program.

    Sutton was a strength and conditioning assistant at Ohio State from 2005-07, working with men's and women's track and field, men's and women's lacrosse and men's swimming. In 2008, he enjoyed a brief stint at Arizona State as an assistant strength coach working with football and track before returning to his alma mater. In his role with the Buckeyes, Sutton assisted in the design and implementation of the year-round strength and conditioning program for OSU football.

    Sutton received his bachelor's degree in sport and leisure studies from Ohio State in 2004 and earned a master's degree in health and human services from Ohio University in 2005. He played a year of football at Tiffin before transferring to Ohio State, where he spent one year with the football team before starting work as an intern (2001-04) in the strength and conditioning program.

    A Columbus native and graduate of Beechcroft High School, Sutton is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has additional certification from USA Weightlifting as a club coach.
