    Graduate Assistant

    Third Season

Matt MacPherson is in his third year at Northwestern as a graduate assistant. MacPherson works with the defensive side of the ball, primarily the linebackers. MacPherson came to Evanston prior to the 2000 season after working as a graduate assistant with the running backs coach at DePauw.

MacPherson was a standout middle linebacker from 1995-98 at DePauw, lettering four times and starting for three straight years. He led the Tigers in tackles as a junior (76) and senior (108), earning all-conference both years. MacPherson was also a Football Gazette third team All-American as a senior, and was named to DePauw's All-Century Team in football.

MacPherson anchored the program to a stunning turnaround during his tenure -- after going 3-7 his freshman, DePauw went 9-1 his sophomore year and won the Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 6-0 record. The Tigers then went 5-1 in conference play both his junior and senior years.

MacPherson and his wife, Pam, reside in Evanston.
