    Northwestern Tops 50 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Honors For The Second Time

    Wildcats earn 51 total awards from 15 of 19 varsity programs

    2012: Redshirt senior ... Missed first two games of 2012 due to injury before returning to earn the starting spot at right guard ... Made 16 career starts ... Helped NU post fourth-best rushing average in the Big Ten for the year (225.6) ... Academic All-Big Ten.

    2011: Saw time in eight games as a reserve offensive lineman and on special teams.

    2010: Played in all 13 games as a reserve on the offensive line.

    A: The best part about being a Northwestern football player is being a part of a team that lives and dies together, day in and day out. Brothers at Arms. We really become a family and learn to depend on one another for everything and anything.

    A: A lady approached my Mom, and said your Neal Deiters Mom right? And my mother agreed, then the lady continued to say, "Neal told my son to keep going when he was having some trouble doing some wind sprints as a freshman, and he did! Now whenever he's having a hard time he thinks of Neal and what he said to him that day" My Mom started crying, but I was truly humbled when she told this story. One simple act of kindness can change someone else's whole world.

    A: Receiving a college football scholarship out of high school.
