    Ohio 7

Northwestern scored 28 second-quarter points and held Ohio U. to 186 total yards as they improved to 2-1 with a 28-7 win.

Darnell Autry opened the scoring with an eight-yard touchdown run. Steve Schnur then threw three touchdown passes, one each to Darren Drexler, D'Wayne Bates and Brian Musso, to put NU up by 28 at the half. Only a late touchdown by the Bobcats prevented the Wildcats from posting the shutout. The defense was the strength all day as they forced seven fumbles and held OU to just seven yards passing. Pat Fitzgerald, Keith Lozowski and Kevin Buck each had 11 tackles.

In addition to his fifth touchdown of the season, Autry had 115 yards rushing, his 16th-consecutive 100-yard game. Schnur tallied 195 yards passing to go along with his three touchdowns and Bates caught a touchdown for the third-straight game.
