    NU Never Trails in 25-Point Victory

    Northwestern got off to a sluggish start before blowing the game open with 20 third-quarter points en route to a 38-13 victory. The victory marked NU's first win against Duke in seven tries.

    The 'Cats jumped to an early 12-0 lead on a spectacular Darnell Autry 30-yard run and two Brian Gowins field goals. Brian Musso's first touchdown catch of the season made the score 18-10 at the half. Northwestern put the game out of reach in the third quarter on a seven-yard D'Wayne Bates TD reception, a Musso 51-yard punt return for a touchdown, and Autry's second score of the game.

    Autry carried 23 times for 157 yards and two scores, Musso had two touchdowns and Steve Schnur tossed two touchdown passes. Hudhaifa Ismaeli and Barry Gardner led the defense with 10 tackles apiece.
