    Wildcats Begin Practice, Open Scrimmage Set for Oct. 5

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- Under first-year head coach Chris Collins, the Northwestern men's basketball program opened up formal practices for the upcoming 2013-14 season on Saturday afternoon.

    Though the Wildcats got started under no fanfare, fans will have the opportunity to see the team in action for themselves on Saturday, Oct. 5. Prior to that evening's football game vs. Ohio State at Ryan Field, the men's basketball program will hold an open scrimmage for fans from 3:15-4:15 p.m.

    Parking to the Ryan Field lots open at 3 p.m. at which time fans are invited over to Welsh-Ryan Arena. Beginning at 3:15, the team will scrimmage as well as holding on-court contests with NU players and fans with the hour-long event wrapping up with remarks from Coach Collins.

    Upon the conclusion of the event, fans are encouraged to gather outside the front of Welsh-Ryan Arena for Walk With Us at 4:30 to welcome the football team to Ryan Field prior to 7 p.m. kickoff.
