    2014-15 Northwestern Men's Basketball Schedule

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference has announced its men's basketball conference schedule for the upcoming 2014-15 season. Northwestern is set to face a challenging slate, including an impressive home schedule.

Northwestern will not play consecutive home or road games throughout the entire first half of the conference season.

The Wildcats will be the first Big Ten opponent in school history for conference newcomer Rutgers as the teams will square off in Piscataway Dec. 30. The contest is the lone meeting between the schools this season.

For the second consecutive year, Northwestern will open its league home slate against Wisconsin, a Final Four participant a year ago. The teams battle Jan. 4 at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

NU has an early bye in its schedule before returning to action a week later at Michigan State prior to Illinois making the trip north to Evanston on Jan. 14. The Wildcats make their second trip to the Great Lakes State in a week as they head to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan Jan. 17.

The lone meeting with Ohio State during the 2014-15 campaign is slated for Jan. 22 as the Buckeyes come to Welsh-Ryan. Like Rutgers, Northwestern faces Big Ten newcomer Maryland just once this season with that matchup taking place Jan. 25 in College Park.

The third of four consecutive games against single-play foes comes on Jan. 31 as Purdue makes the short trek to Evanston. The first half of the conference slate wraps up Feb. 3 when Northwestern takes on Nebraska in Lincoln.

NU has to play consecutive road games just once during the league schedule and the second half of that trip is a contest at Wisconsin Feb. 7. The Wildcats pulled off a 65-56 victory over the 14th-ranked Badgers in Madison last season.

Northwestern will be regulars at Welsh-Ryan Arena over the next two weeks as it plays four out of its next five games at home. The stretch starts with home contests against Michigan State (Feb. 10) and Iowa (Feb. 15). The lone road game during the span is Feb. 18 at Minnesota before the 'Cats return to Evanston to take on Penn State (Feb. 21) and Indiana (Feb. 25).

NU concludes its season series with Illinois Feb. 28 in Champaign before wrapping up its home slate with a March 3 Senior Night contest against Michigan. The regular season winds to a close four days later at Iowa.

The 2015 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament returns to United Center in Chicago as the event expands to five days beginning with two contests on Wednesday, March 11 and running through Sunday, March 15.

Tip times and television designations for all conference games will be announced on a future date.
