EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern rising sophomore Nathan Taphorn is set to embark on a foreign tour of Belgium, Germany, England and Holland while competing in five exhibition contests with 10 other individuals from various universities.

The team, which is being coached by Northwestern assistant Patrick Baldwin, is sponsored by Global Sports Academy. The tour is the same as the one experienced by JerShon Cobb and Sanjay Lumpkin last summer.

"Like Sanjay and JerShon a year ago, this foreign trip should be a great step in Nate's development," Northwestern head coach Chris Collins said. "He has had a solid off-season and this will be a terrific chance for him to go up against solid international competition while also having the opportunity to experience some foreign culture."

Taphorn appeared in 26 contests, including making one start, for Northwestern as a freshman during the 2013-14 season. He scored a season-high 11 points off the bench against Missouri.

The team is set to depart from Chicago on Monday, August 11. Along the way, the group will experience Brussels, London and Amsterdam prior to competing in its first game on Thursday. The squad will play five exhibition games against various foreign squads over a five-day span. Along the way, they will also see Cologne, Düsseldorf, and Bruges and Ghent before returning to the United States following their nine-day expedition.
