    Marcotullio Earns Second Stint on Great Britain Under-20 Team

    EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern rising junior Alex Marcotullio (Warren, Mich./De La Salle) has been named to one of 12 roster spots on the Great Britain Under-20 National Team which will compete at the FIBA U20 European Championships next month.

    It is the second straight year that Marcotullio has been named to the squad. A year ago, he averaged 13.9 points per game in helping the team to a sixth-place finish. In the 17-team field, he ranked fifth in 3-pointers made (3.0 per game), sixth in steals (1.7 per game) and 17th in field goal percentage (48.6 percent).

    Marcotullio is joining the squad in time for a pair of exhibition games against Denmark July 4 and 5 and vs. Belgium July 7 and 8. Great Britain will then head to Sarajevo, Bosnia to compete in Division B at the European Championships. The team opens group play July 14 against Portugal, followed by matches against Finland (July 15), Luxemburg (July 16), Norway (July 17) and Czech Republic (July 18).

    During his sophomore season with the Wildcats, Marcotullio appeared in all 34 games, making seven starts. He averaged 6.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest while helping NU tie a program record with 20 wins. Marcotullio scored in double figures in five of Northwestern's last six games of the campaign, including posting a career-best 18 points in the regular-season finale vs. Minnesota.
