EVANSTON, Ill. -
Northwestern will travel to Raleigh, N.C., to face North Carolina State Tuesday, Dec. 1 in a non-conference matchup as part of the 11th-annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge presented by Dick's Sporting Goods. It is set to be the second Challenge meeting between the Wildcats and Wolfpack.
Game times and television coverage are to be determined at a later date. For the fifth consecutive year, the Challenge will feature 11 games and include two telecasts on ESPNU with ESPN and ESPN2 combining to televise the remaining nine games. ESPN360.com, the broadband sports television network from ESPN, will simulcast the ESPN and ESPN2 telecasts.
N.C. State won the previous meeting with the Wildcats as part of the Challenge, 74-49 Dec. 4, 2002 in Raleigh. Overall, the Wolfpack leads the all-time series with Northwestern 3-0 with all three matchups having been played in the state of North Carolina.
N.C. State posted a 16-14 overall record during the 2008-09 season, including a 6-10 mark in the ACC to finish in 10th place.
Northwestern is 3-7 in its first 10 ACC/Big Ten Challenge games with two of the wins coming in the last three years. The Wildcats defeated Florida State 73-59 in Evanston last season.
