    EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern is the No. 11 seed for the 2014 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament and opens play against sixth-seeded Iowa at approximately 8 p.m. Central time at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

    The contest is being televised by ESPN2.

    The Wildcats (13-18, 6-12) tied for 10th place in the Big Ten regular season standings but lost a tiebreaker with Penn State due to the Nittany Lions winning the lone head-to-head matchup with the Wildcats.

    Thursday's contest will be a rematch of last year's opening-round contest between the teams which was won by Iowa, 73-59. The teams also met in the opening round in 2001 with the Hawkeyes posting a 72-55 victory in that meeting.

    Iowa (20-11, 9-9) won both regular-season meetings with Northwestern this season, earning a 93-67 victory Jan. 9 in Iowa City and 76-50 Jan. 25 in Evanston.

    The winner of Thursday's matchup advances to the quarterfinal round where it will take on third-seeded Michigan State at approximately 8 p.m. CT Friday.

    The semifinal round is slated for Saturday while the championship game is being played Sunday.
