EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern redshirt senior Drew Crawford (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) has been recognized as the Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week for games ending the week of Sunday, Feb. 2. The honor is selected by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA).

As the Big Ten Conference Co-Player of the Week, Crawford was nominated for the weekly award, which was chosen by a representative of the USBWA board of directors from a list of Division I conference players of the week. This is the fifth season that the USBWA has selected a national player of the week.

Crawford was stellar in a pair of road victories by the Wildcats last week, averaging 23.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest while shooting 66.7 percent (16-24) from the field.

In a 65-56 win at No. 14/13 Wisconsin on Wednesday, he tallied a season-high 30 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field. Crawford also contributed eight rebounds, three assists, a blocked shot and a steal while playing all 40 minutes of the contest.

He followed up the effort by guiding Northwestern to a third straight Big Ten road win at Minnesota on Saturday as the Wildcats came away with a 55-54 victory. Crawford recorded a game-high 17 points with five rebounds and three assists in the contest, helping NU move into fourth place in the Big Ten standings.

For the season, Crawford leads the team with averages of 16.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest. He is the only current Big Ten player to rank in the top 10 in the league in both categories. His 1,786 career points lead all active Big Ten players and rank fourth in school history.

Northwestern (12-11, 5-5) has won four of its last five contests heading into a home matchup with Nebraska on Saturday. Tip-off is set for noon at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
