    Northwestern Falls to Minnesota, 64-56, in First Round of Big Ten Tournament

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern men's basketball team fell to Minnesota, 64-56, in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament Thursday afternoon at the United Center in Chicago, Ill. Northwestern ends their season 10-17 overall, 3-13 in the Big Ten.

    Northwestern and Minnesota battled back and forth throughout the first half, exchanging leads several times before NU grabbed a 30-27 lead at intermission. Evan Eschmeyer put up 13 points and grabbed three rebounds in the stanza to pace NU. The 'Cats came out strong after the break, maintaining the lead through much of the half. Minnesota finally took a 51-50 lead with just over four minutes to play and held on for the win.

    Eschmeyer led NU with 23 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Napoleon Harris had 13 points and seven rebounds and Joe Branch added six points and seven rebounds. Quincy Lewis led Minnesota with 25 points.
