    Eschmeyer's 36 Points Not Enough

    DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Ryan Perryman scored 24 points and Tony Stanley had 23 points to lead Dayton to a 77-69 victory over Northwestern on Saturday night.

    Edwin Young added 11 points for Dayton (7-4) in the Flyers' first win over a Big 10 team since beating Illinois in the first round of the 1990 NCAA Tournament.

    Evan Eschmeyer had 36 points for Northwestern (6-3), including 24 in the first half. Sean Wink scored 12, and Joe Harmsen had 10.

    The Flyers made nine of their first 10 shots to take a 21-8 lead in the first eight minutes, and led 49-40 at halftime. For the game, Dayton shot a season-high 58 percent from the field.

    The eight-point loss was the largest of the season for Northwestern, which previously lost twice by a total of three points.

    Perryman had the 40th double-double of his career, adding 12 rebounds to his season-high 24 points.
