EVANSTON, Ill. - All-American candidate Evan Eschmeyer notched his third double-double of
the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds as Northwestern won its fifth
straight game, defeating UW-Milwaukee, 80-44, at Welsh-Ryan Arena on
Monday night.
It is the third time this season Eschmeyer has scored 20 or more points
in a game. Sophomore guard Sean Wink and freshman guard David Newman
each had 13 points for NU while the Wildcat defense held every UWM
player in single-digit scoring. Chad Angeli and Cyrus Caldwell had nine
points apiece for the Panthers.
Northwestern held UW-Milwaukee to just four points over the game's first
12 minutes, as NU led 23-4. with 8:26 left in the period. The Wildcats
took a 40-20 lead into halftime. The final margin of victory, 36
points, marked NU's biggest lead of the game. Overall, Northwestern
made nine three-pointers and forced 16 Panther turnovers.
The Cats, will play their first road game of the season this Sat., Dec.
19, at Seton Hall. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. CST. NU returns home to
Welsh-Ryan Arena on Dec. 23 to face Boston College at 7 p.m.
