EVANSTON, Ill. -- Six Wildcats reached double-digits scoring, led by senior Nick Fruendt's game-high 17 points, as Northwestern rolled to a 99-48 win over Robert Morris (Ill.) in the season's lone exhibition game Monday evening at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

Freshmen Dave Sobolewski and Tre Demps each gave the Northwestern offense a spark at various points in the contest, notching 15 points and 13 points, respectively. Diante Watkins and Tori Boyd paced the visiting Eagles with eight points apiece.

The Wildcats, missing mainstays on the court in Drew Crawford, JerShon Cobb and Alex Marcotullio, were slow to start, letting RMU stay close early. The Eagles cut an NU lead to three when Boyd hit a jumper to make it 14-11 eight minutes in.

From there, the 'Cats woke up, reeling off a 35-9 run to take a 49-20 lead into halftime, behind back-to-back threes by Reggie Hearn and Demps.

The Wildcats shot 63 percent from the field, including a mark of 73-percent (11-15) from behind the arc. Defensively on the night, Northwestern held the Eagles to less than 29 percent shooting from the field.

Senior John Shurna, recently named to the 2011-12 Naismith Trophy Preseason Watch List, amassed 12 points and four assists, all in the first half. Davide Curletti posted 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field, and Hearn notched 13 points of his own to go along with six rebounds and four assists. Freshman Mike Turner lead all players with eight boards and added four points to the Wildcats' cause.

Northwestern opens the regular season Sunday when Texas-Pan American visits Welsh-Ryan Arena for a 6 p.m. tip.
