    Postgame Quotes

    Northwestern Head Coach Bill Carmody
    Opening Statement...
"It was a game that was real important to us and important to Iowa also. It started out slowly for both teams but then they just went on a tear and got a 13 or 15 point lead and it didn't look too good but that one three point helped us at the end of the half there we got some easy hoops. I thought we were getting some decent looks in the early in first half but weren't going down. Then we got some lay ups and some run outs to get a nice lead. In the second half we were feeling ok and then you have to give Iowa credit, they came back like gangbusters. They were playing really good man-to-man defense. It came down to we were up two and they got a wide open shot, a three from the right wing there and then Alex knocked down the two that made the difference but they battled the whole way and I thought we did too. It was just a real good game. We got some great contributions from our bench. I thought Cobb was really instrumental there. But that's a very good Iowa team, what did they finish, 8 -10? Same as us. If you would have told me that I would have said no way but McCaffery's done a hell of a job and they're going to continue to get better."

    On key offensive rebounds...
"Once a century we get offensive rebounds, I think our last game we got one. Crawford was very good in the first half I think he got three or four offensive rebounds and I think the other guys, Curletti, Marcotuillio got one in there. Iowa was pretty aggressive. We had to be careful because with Cartwright in there, they burned us a couple times."
