  • Northwestern defeated the Gophers for the sixth straight time and picked up its third straight win at Williams Arena in as many years. It is the first time NU has won six in a row over Minnesota since the 1930's.

  • With 40 points, Northwestern held Minnesota to its lowest point total since 1971.

  • Minnesota's six free-throw attempts was its second-lowest total of the season.

  • Northwestern's defense held Minnesota to 15 percent shooting from three and 33 percent overall.

  • Northwestern scored 12 points off nine Minnesota turnovers. Northwestern kept its turnovers (8) in the single digits for the fifth time this season.

  • Kevin Coble returned to the lineup after sitting out the last two games with an ankle injury. He scored 13 points off the bench and grabbed four rebounds.

  • Coble has now scored in double-figures in nine of his last 11 games.

  • Vince Scott scored 15 points--one shy of his career high--and hit three 3-pointers.

  • Tim Doyle, who is on pace to break Northwestern's single-season record for assists, dished out six assists.
