    Joe Kennedy is in his third season as the men's basketball team's director of operations at Northwestern.

    His duties include assisting in all aspects of the everyday workings within the Wildcat basketball office and program, including all travel arrangements and serving as the team's academic liaison among a variety of other demands.

    A 2007 Northwestern graduate with degrees in social policy and religion, Kennedy was a four-year letterwinner with the Wildcats from 2004-07. He served as a team captain his senior year and was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.

    Kennedy rejoined the Wildcats after most recently working in the Office of Public Engagement at the White House. In that position, he acted as a liaison to key national groups and organizations, helping to promote and implement the White House administration's legislative priorities. His efforts included outreach to organizations focused on youth, amateur and professional sports and was responsible for coordinating all sports events for the White House.

    Prior working for the Office of Public Engagement, Kennedy worked for the Obama for America campaign, as well as the President-elect's transition team.

    Kennedy, 29, prepped at nearby Loyola Academy and hails from a basketball family. His father, Pat, was formerly the head coach at Towson, Iona, Florida State, DePaul and Montana.
